What We Believe

  • The Holy Bible is the inspired word of God.

  • We believe in the only one true living God.

  • We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, begotten by the Holy Spirit.

  • We believe that Jesus' voluntarily  death was a substitution in the sinner's place, the just dying for the unjust, Christ bearing our sins.

  • We believe Christ was buried and arose from the dead.

  • We believe the biblical account of the creation.

  • We believe that salvation is totally of grace, the free gift of God, which is received through personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Articles of Faith

The Scriptures – We believe in the authority and sufficiency of the Holy Bible, consisting of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments as originally written; that it was verbally and plenarily inspired and is the product of spirit-controlled men, and therefore is infallible and inerrant in all matters of which it speaks, and that this Divine inspiration is true of the Bible only.

We believe the Bible to be the true center of Christian unity and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creed and opinions shall be tried. II Timothy 3:16-17, II Peter 1:19-21 All Scriptures center on the Lord Jesus Christ and lead us to Him. Luke 24:27 and 44, John 5:39, Acts 17:2-3  Furthermore, even though the Church is not bound by the Old Testament Law, all the Scriptures were written for our instruction, encouragement and edification. Romans 15:4, I Corinthians 10:11

The Lord Jesus Christ – We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who became man without ceasing to be God, and that He was begotten of the Holy Spirit in a miraculous manner, born of Mary, a virgin, as no other man was ever born or can be born of woman, and that He is both the Son of God and God the Son.

We believe that by appointment of the Father, Jesus Christ voluntarily took upon Himself our nature, yet without sin, and honored the divine law by His personal obedience, thus qualifying Himself to be our Savior; that by the shedding of His blood in His death He fully satisfied the just demands of a holy and righteous God regarding sin; that His death was a voluntary substitution of Himself in the sinner’s place, the just dying for the unjust, Christ the Lord bearing our sins in His own body on the tree. We believe that after His death He was buried and then arose from the dead in the same body, though glorified, and that the bodily resurrection of Christ was a real event; that He ascended into heaven and that He is now exalted at the Father’s right hand; that there He is continually representing His people as their High Priest, Intercessor, and Advocate; and that in the future Christ will return from heaven, first in the air to catch away the Church, and then, after the Tribulation, to the earth to establish His Kingdom.

John 1:1 and 14; Philippians 2:5-8; Genesis 3:15; Isaiah 7:14;Matthew 1:18-25;Luke 1:35; I Corinthians 15:3;II Corinthians 5:2; I John 4:10;I Peter 2:24; Matthew 28:1-10; I Corinthians 15:4-20; Acts 1:9-11; Philippians 2:9-11; Ephesians 1:20-23; Hebrews 1:3, 9:2, 9:24, 44-16, 10:21-22, 7:25; Romans 8:34; I John 2:1-2

Heaven and Hell – We believe that Heaven is a literal place of eternal life and blessedness with our Heavenly Father for all those who believe e in and receive His Blessed Son.  It is a place of everlasting joy and blessing, no more sorrow nor crying, no more pain nor death, and there shall be no night there for the Lord God giveth them light. Revelation 14:13, 21:3-4, 22:3-5; John 14:1-3

We believe that Hell is a place of constant, conscious torment for those who reject the natural and special revelation of God. Romans 1:1-32; I Corinthians 15:3; Matthew 25:46; Psalm 37:20, Revelation 20:15

We believe that at death the believer goes immediately to be with Christ, absent from the body but face to face with the Lord, and that there, inn conscious joy, he awaits the first resurrection when he will be reunited with his resurrected body, to be glorified forever with the Lord. We believe that at death the unbeliever goes to be in conscious misery until the second resurrection, when he shall be reunited with his resurrected body to appear before Christ at the Great White Throne Judgment.  Philippians 1:21-23; II Corinthians 5:6-8; I Corinthians 15:51-52; I Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 20:4-6; Luke 16:19-26; Revelation 20:11-15

The Fall of Man – We believe that man was created in innocence, in the image and likeness of God, under the law of his Maker, but by the voluntary transgression Adam fell from his sinless and happy state, and all men sinned in him, in consequence of which all men are totally depraved, are partakers of Adam’s fallen nature, and are sinners by nature and by conduct, and therefore are under just condemnation without defense or excuse. Genesis 3:1-6; Romans 3:10-19, 5:12 and 19, 1:18-22; Isaiah 64:6-7

Salvation We believe that the salvation of men and women is the work of God and is totally of grace, the free gift of God, which is received through personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and in His work on our behalf.  Repentance is a change of mind and purpose toward God prompted by the Holy Spirit, and is an integral part of saving faith. Salvation is based on the finished work of Christ in bearing the penalty and guilt of our sin.  Jesus Christ is the only Savior, and apart from Him there is no salvation. Those who do not receive God’s free gift of eternal life will perish under the wrath of a holy God. Ephesians 2:8-9; Acts 15:11; Romans 6:23; John 1:12, 5:24, 3:16, 6:47; Luke 24:47; Acts 3:19, 4:12; John 3:16-18 and 36

Justification – We believe that justification is that judicial act of God whereby He declares the believer righteous upon the basis of the imputed righteousness of Christ; that it is bestowed, not in consideration of any works of righteousness which we have, but solely through fait in the Redeemer’s shed blood. Romans 3:24, 4:5, 5:1 and 9; Galatians 2:16; Philippians 3:9; Titus 3:5

The Security of the Saints – We believe that all who are truly born again are kept by God the Father for Jesus Christ, and are safe and secure in Christ forever; therefore, it is impossible for a born-again child of God to lose his salvation. On the other hand, a person whose life is devoid of Christian character should examine himself to see whether he is in the faith.  The question, therefore, is not whether a saved person can be lost (which is impossible), but whether one who professes belief is truly saved. John 5:24, 6:37-40 and 47, 10:27-30; Romans 8:28-39; Ephesians 1:13-14, 4:30; I Peter 1:5; Jude I; II Corinthians 13:5; I John 2:4, 6 and 9

The Local Church – We believe that a local church is an organized congregation of immersed believers associated by covenant of faith and fellowship of the gospel; observing the ordinances of Christ, governed by His laws; and exercising the gifts, rights and privileges invested in them by His Word; that its officers are pastors, deacons and trustees, whose qualification, claims and duties are clearly defined in the Scriptures. We believe that the true mission of the  church is the faithful witnessing of Christ to all men as we have opportunity. We hold that the local church has the absolute right of self-government free from interference of any hierarchy of individuals or organizations; and that the one and only Superintendent is Christ through the Holy Spirit; that it is scriptural for true churches to cooperate with each other in contending for the faith and for the furtherance of the Gospel; that each local church is the sold judge of the measure and method of its coop0eration, that on all matters of membership, of policy, of government, of discipline, of benevolence, the will of the local church is final. I Corinthians 11:2; Acts 20:17-28, I Timothy 3:1-13; Acts 2:41-42

The Universal Church – We believe in the unity of all New Testament believers in the invisible church, which is the body of Christ. I Corinthians 12:12-13; Ephesians 1:22-23, 3:1-6, 4:11, 5:23; Colossians 1:18; Acts 15:13-18

Dispensationalism – We believe that God has revealed His will to mankind in progressive stages through the different periods of history, these progressions being known as dispensations. In each dispensation God called upon mankind to believe in Him and to obey His Word. In each dispensation people were saved by grace through faith in God’s promises. The content of God’s revelation, however, has expanded in each dispensation. We further believe that the promises God made to the nation of Israel in the Old Testament will be literally fulfilled to Israel in the future kingdom. We reject both Covenant Theology (such as teaching which equates the New Testament Church with Old Testament Israel) and Hyperdispensationalism (such as teaching which rejects water baptism and/or the Lord’s Supper as ordinances for the church today, or limits Scripture portions which are profitable teaching for the  church today). Ephesians 1:10, 3:1-12; Colossians 1:24-27, Hebrews 1:1-2; John 1:17; Romans 11:1-32, 15:4; I Corinthians 10:11

Last Things

The Rapture – We believe in the imminent, pretribulational, premillennial return of Christ for His church, and that at that moment the dead in Christ shall be raised in glorified bodies, and the living in Christ shall receive glorified bodies without tasting death, and all shall be caught up to meet the Lord in the air before the seventieth week of Daniel. I Thessalonians 4:13-18; I Corinthians 15:42-44, 51-54; Philippians 3:20-21; Revelation 3:10

The Tribulation – We believe that the rapture of the church saints will be followed by a seven-year period called the Tribulation, or Daniel’s seventieth week. The church will be in heaven during these years, and believers will stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ at the beginning of this period. The last three and one half years of the Tribulation is called the Great Tribulation, or Jacob’s Trouble, a time of severe judgments upon the whole earth. I Corinthians 4:5; II Timothy 4:8; Revelation 22:12; Daniel 9:27; Jeremiah 30:7; Matthew 24:15-21; Romans 14:12; II Corinthians 5:10; Revelation 16:1-21

The Millennial Kingdom – We believe the Tribulation will be terminated by Christ’s coming in judgment to establish the Millennial Kingdom, during which time He will fulfill the promises to Israel concerning their earthly kingdom.

We believe in the sovereign selection of Israel as God’s eternal covenant people, that she is now dispersed because of her disobedience sand rejection of Christ, and that she will be regathered in the land of Palestine as promised in the Abrahamic Covenant, and after the completion of the church, will be saved as a nation at the second advent of Christ.

The Judgment of the Wicked – We believe the Millennial Kingdom will terminate with the release of Satan from the Bottomless Pit, and that he will lead an insurrection against the Son of God and will be eternally defeated by God. This will be followed by the Great White Throne Judgment, where all unbelievers will be judged an sentenced eternally to the Lake of Fire. They will not be annihilated, but will be in conscious torment forever. II Thessalonians 1:7-9; Mark 9:42-48; Revelation 20:2-3, 7-10

The New Heaven and the New Earth – We believe in the new heaven and the new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness, which will be the abiding place of the redeemed for all eternity, and where Christ is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Revelation 21:1-27, 22:3, 19:16

The True GodWe believe there is one and only one living and true God, an infinite, intelligent Spirit, the Maker and Supreme Ruler of heaven and earth, inexpressively glorious in holiness and worthy of all possible honor, confidence and love; that in the unity of the Godhead there are three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, equal in every divine perfection and executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption. Exodus 20:2-3, I Corinthians 8:6, Revelation 4:11, Matthew 3:16-17, Deuteronomy 6:4

The Holy Spirit – We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person, equal with God the Father and God the Son and of the same nature, that he was active in the creation , that in His relation to the unbelieving world He restrains the evil one until God’s purpose is fulfilled, that He convicts of sin, of righteousness and of judgment, that He bears witness to the Truth of the Gospel in preaching and testimony, that He is the agent in New Birth, that He baptizes believers into the Body of Christ, that He permanently indwells, fills, seals, endues, guides, teaches, witnesses, sanctifies and intercedes for the believer . John 14:16-17; Matthew 28:19; Hebrews 9:14; John 14:26; Luke 1:35; Genesis 1:1-3; John 16:8-11; Acts 5:30-32; John 3:5-6; Ephesians 1:13-14; Mark 1:8; John 1:33; Acts 11:16; Luke 29:49; Romans 8:14, 16, 26-27

We believe that it is the responsibility of every believer to live under the control of the Holy Spirit and to give evidence in his life of the Spirit’s presence through obedience and praise to God. We believe that today the Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts to each believer, and that He gives special men to the Church (evangelists and teaching pastors), and that these together with the Word of God are sufficient to bring believers to maturity. Galatians 5:16, 22-23; Ephesians 4:30, 5:18; I Thessalonians 5:19; I Corinthians 12:4-11; Ephesians 4:8, 11-13

Angels and Satan – The Bible clearly teaches the existence and personality of angels, both holy, elect angels, and fallen angels or demons.  We believe in the reality and personality of Satan, the Devil; that he was created by God as an angel, but through pride and rebellion became the enemy of his Creator and of man; that he is the author of sin, that he became the unholy   god of this age and the  ruler of the powers of darkness; that his defeat was accomplished through the cross of Christ; and that he and his angels are destined to eternal punishment in the lake of fire. Luke 2:13, 9:26, 15:10; Matthew 4:1-11; II Corinthians 4:4; Isaiah 14:12-17; I John 3:8; John 8:44; I Peter 5:8; Matthew 25:41; Revelation 20:10

Creation – We believe the biblical account of the creation of the physical universe, angels, and man; that this account is neither allegory nor myth, but a literal, historical account of the direct, immediate creative acts of God without any evolutionary process; that man was created by a direct work of God and not from previously existing forms off life; and that all men are descended from the historical Adam and Eve, first parents of the entire human race. Genesis 1:1-2:25; Colossians 6:17, John 1:3

Grace and the New Birth – We believe that in order to be saved, sinners must be born again’ that the new birth is a new creation in Christ Jesus; that it is instantaneous and not a process; that in the new birth the one dead in trespasses and sins is made a partaker of the divine nature and receives eternal life, the free gift of God; that the new creation is brought ab out by our sovereign God in a manner above our comprehension, solely by the power of the Holy Spirit in connection with divine truth, so as to secure our voluntary obedience to the gospel; that its proper evidence appears in the holy fruits of repentance, faith and newness of life. John 3:3; II Corinthians 5:17; I John 5:1; Acts 16:20-33; II Peter 1:4; Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:1 and 5; Colossians 2:13; John 3:8

Sanctification – We believe that sanctification is the divine setting apart of the believer unto God, accomplished in a threefold manner; first, an eternal act of God, based upon redemption in Christ, establishing the believer in a position of holiness at the moment he trusts the Savior; second, a continuing process in the saint as the Holy Spirit applies the Word of God to the life; third, the final accomplishment of this process at the Lord’s return. Hebrews 10:10-14, 3:1; John 17:17; II Corinthians 3:18; I Corinthians 1:30; Ephesians 5:25-27; I Thessalonians 4:3-4, 5-23-24; I John 3:2; Jude 24-25; Revelation 22:11

Baptism and the Lord’s Supper – We believe that Christian baptism is the single immersion of a believer in water to show forth in a solemn and beautiful emblem our identification with the crucified, buried and risen Savior, through Whom we died to sin and rose to a new life; that baptism is to be performed under the authority off the local church; and that it is a prerequisite to the privileges of church membership.

We believe that the Lord’s Supper is the commemoration of His death until He comes, and should be preceded always by solemn self-examination. We believe that the biblical order of the ordinances is baptism first and then the Lord’s Supper, and that participants in the Lord’s Supper should be immersed believers.  Acts 8:36-39; John 3:23; Romans 6:3-5; Matthew 3:16; Colossians 2:12; I Corinthians 11:23-28; Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 2:41-42

Separation – We believe that the Christian life should be a life of joy and peace and obedience to the Lord who saved us.  The believer is free to be guided by the Holy Spirit and the Word of God, and is not bound by the Old Testament Law or the rules of legalists.  This liberty is Christ, however, is not to be used as an excuse for sin. The grace of God teaches us that we should deny ungodliness and worldly desires, and should live sensible, righteous and godly lives. Saved people should live in such a way that they do not bring reproach to the name of Christ.

Separation from religious apostasy and compromise, from sinful and worldly practices, and from unscriptural associations or unequal alliances, including oath-bound religious or social secret orders, is clearly commanded by God’s Word. If a person is truly saved, he will manifest a life of consistent obedience to the Word of God, a fervent love for other believers, and a daily walk that is characterized by righteousness and Christ-likeness.  I Thessalonians 1:9-10; Galatians 5:1 and 25; Romans 13:13-14, 6:1-13; Galatians 5:13; Titus 2:11-13; II Timothy 3:1-5; I John 2:15-17; II John 9-11; II Corinthians 6:14-7:1; I John 2:3-5, 3:14-19, 4:7 and 20; Galatians 5:22-23; I John 2:29, 3:10

Civil Order – We believe that civil government is of divine appointment for the interest and good order of human society; that magistrates are to be prayed for, conscientiously honored and obeyed, except in things opposed to the will of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who is the only Lord of conscience and the coming King of Kings. Romans 13:1-7; II Samuel 23:3; Exodus 18:21-22; Acts 23:5; Matthew 22:21; Acts 23:5; Matthew 22:21; Acts 5:29, 4:19-20; Daniel 3:17-18

Church Order – We believe that the government of this local church is vested in the body of believers of which it is composed. In keeping with historic Baptist faith, the government of this church shall be democratic in its operation, remaining independent as it assumes sole responsibility for its actions and decisions. Matthew 18:15-17; Acts 15:3-4, 6-7 and 22

Family Order – We believe that marriage and the family unit are ordained of God and are basic to the social order of the human race. We furthermore accept the biblical prohibitions of sexual union and cohabitation outside marriage, and the biblical directives concerning husband and wife and family as fully applicable to believers in our time, and that God’s consistent ideal for marriage is that one man and one woman become one flesh for life. Genesis 2:24; Exodus 20:14; Proverbs 6:24-33; Matthew 19:4-10, 5:27-28; Hebrews 13:4; I Peter 3:1-8

Charismatic Movement – We believe that there were sign-gifts given to the early church in the days of its infancy before the written revelation of God was completed. These sign-gifts were supernatural manifestations of the Holy Spirit given to convince the unbeliever of the authenticity of the gospel message that the authenticity of the messengers of the gospel.

We believe that by the second generation of Christians these sign-gifts had, for all practical purposes, passed form the church. Therefore, we repudiate the teachings of the charismatic movement that the sign-gifts are for the church today.  I Corinthians 13:8-13, 14:21; Hebrews 2:3-4

We believe that God does hear and answer prayer regarding the sick, in accordance with His will.  Philippians 2:26-27; James 5:13-18; I John 5:13-18
